Healthcare
app development

Healthcare apps have high stakes and higher regulations. We help founders build compliant, user-friendly products that doctors and patients both want to use.

Why healthcare founders
work with us

Healthcare is one of the hardest verticals to build apps in. The regulatory landscape is complex, data sensitivity is non-negotiable, and the people using your product are often in vulnerable situations. Most app agencies avoid it. We have built in it and understand what it actually takes.

The compliance piece trips up most healthcare founders before they even start. Knowing whether your app needs TGA registration as a software medical device, how the Privacy Act applies to personal health information, and how to architect a system that satisfies clinical governance requirements is the kind of knowledge you need before writing a line of code. We help you map all of this in the Inception phase so you build the right thing from day one.

Beyond compliance, healthcare apps live or die on trust. If patients or clinicians do not trust your product, they will not use it regardless of how well it is built. That means clean UX, clear consent flows, transparent data handling, and a product that behaves predictably under pressure. We build all of it in, by default.

Whether you are building a telehealth platform, a remote monitoring tool, an allied health booking system, or a patient engagement app, we have worked in the space. Book a free Game Plan call and we will tell you honestly what your build will take.

Apps we build for
healthcare founders

From telehealth platforms to allied health booking apps, we build products that meet the clinical, compliance, and UX bar that healthcare demands.

Telehealth platforms

Video consultations, asynchronous messaging, and clinical note-taking. Built with secure data handling and compliant consent flows from the start.

Booking and scheduling

Allied health, GP, and specialist booking apps with automated reminders, waitlist management, and Medicare billing integration where required.

Patient engagement

Condition management, medication reminders, symptom tracking, and care plan delivery. Products that keep patients engaged between appointments.

Remote monitoring

Wearable integrations, vital sign tracking, and real-time alerts for chronic disease management. Designed with clinical workflow in mind.

Three phases.

Healthcare app development,
answered

How much does a healthcare app cost to build in Australia?

Healthcare apps typically cost between $100,000 and $500,000 depending on complexity, compliance requirements, and integrations. The compliance overhead for apps handling patient data or requiring TGA registration adds real cost, but it is cost worth paying. Cutting corners on security or privacy in healthcare has consequences that go beyond money.

Does my healthcare app need TGA approval?

It depends on what your app does. The TGA regulates software as a medical device (SaMD) in Australia. Apps used for diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, or therapeutic purposes may fall under TGA regulation. Wellness, booking, and administrative apps typically do not. We work this out with you in the Inception phase, before you spend money building the wrong thing.

How do you handle patient data privacy?

Australian healthcare apps handling personal health information must comply with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, plus state-level health records legislation. We build privacy-first from the start: encrypted storage, secure authentication, audit logging, and consent management baked into the architecture. Compliance is never retrofitted after the fact.

How long does it take to build a healthcare app?

A well-scoped healthcare MVP typically takes 16 to 24 weeks from first call to launch. The extra time compared to a standard app comes from compliance architecture, security reviews, and thorough testing. Rushing this phase creates risk you do not want in a clinical product. Our three-phase process builds in the right checkpoints so nothing gets missed.

Can you integrate with My Health Record or practice management systems?

Yes. We have experience with clinical system integrations including My Health Record via the PRODA gateway, practice management APIs, and HL7 FHIR-based data exchange. These integrations add complexity and cost that needs to be scoped properly in Inception, but they are well within our capability.

Do I need to be technical to build a healthcare app with Rebelled?

No. Our job is to handle the technical and compliance complexity so you can focus on your clinical knowledge and your users. You will understand exactly what is being built and why at every stage. Many of our best healthcare founders come from clinical backgrounds with zero coding experience.
